Dual Micro Switch Wiring Diagram

These are some basic set up
notes for a "First Time" Drag Racer
Basic Drag Car Set Up:
Gearing: put on a spur gear, and then
put a pinion gear on the motor. Next run the car and then go up or down from
there with the pinion gear size to get the E.T. , and speed, that you are
looking for in the bracket classes.
Typically keep going up with the pinion gear
size until your E.T. drops works for the head to head classes. A good gear
ratio is determined by a lot of factors, but here are some ranges to start
with:
6 Cell modified motor = 5.20 to 6.00
8 Cell cobalt motor = 4.80 to 5.80
10 Cell cobalt motor = 3.90 to 5.00
Remember that your rear tire diameter plays
an important role in the final roll out of the car!
Check the receiver battery often, even
between rounds. Charge initially before the race at about 1/2 amp, and then
usually once during the race.
The wiring of the motor should be straight
forward, but this is how we wire the dual micro switch set up: The "kill" switch
wire goes to the NEG. side of the motor. The Black wire from the switch goes to
the NEG. side of the battery. The red POS. wire goes to the POS. side of the
motor and also the POS. side of the battery (see diagrams above).
We use a motor spacer between the motor
plate and the motor so that the pinion gear is easier to align with the spur
gear without being at the far end of the armature shaft.
Before your first pass roll your drag car
on a flat, level surface without any gear mesh to test your radio setup. It
should roll on a straight line, if not, adjust steering until it rolls straight,
Your car should be in a "ready to run" condition with all electronics and body
mounted..
Use 1 line of 1/8 wide traction compound
of your choice around the rear tires, and then rub it into the tire across the
face. We completely clean all traction compound out of the tires after a pass
with lighter fluid and then start over again. Keep notes! You should have a
little tire spin. Change the number of lines or compounds until your
traction is correct for the track conditions.
Cobalt and Modified Motors should have a light
commutator cut after every 4 passes. Stock or high wind modified motors will
need the commutator cut only when the commutator surface wear dictates it, or
performance fall off.
We run a tire diameter of 2.25 inched to
2.45. We would true them once per day minimum.
Make a few short passes to check the
weight distribution, your batteries are critical to the setup of the Drag
Car.

GOOD LUCK!
